So, last August, we rocked an Open Mic Night at Time Out & there was a cat there named B Alien,who was recording all the acts that performed that night. Anyway, due to some unforeseen technical difficulties, play back of the beats we were gonna rock too was not possible so, we got the opportunity to rock alongside, Timmy G on guitar,Tom Davis on bass & Alex Curran on drums. Let's Start the Show...
What up world!!! Your favorite rapper's favorite rappers, Special Optics, are back like we left somethin'. We know it's been a minute, but we been a lil busy putting together some plans for this new year. We can't say what they are exactly right now, but we'll let you know as they unfold.
Anyway, just wanted to let ya'll know we got a show coming up. It's gonna be Friday, Marth 11th at Time Out in Concord. It's only $8 at the door & the show's gonna start at 9pm. It's gonna be a showcase of various artist who frequent the Open Mic/ Jam Sessions they have there. We'll be performing alongside Timmy G, Space Monkey Gangstas, B Alien, Raquel, King Zootimus, Bobby Blades, Words Babylon & Subliminal the Kid. It's gonna be a great show, so come out & show support.

3 Days & Counting...
If you've been following us on Facebook (shame on you if you aren't) you should know that we got a show coming up this Friday, which is in 3 day. Peep the calendar to the right for the details if you don't know.
Anyway, as a hip hop duo, we recognize there were some other great duos that came along before us. In our attempts to pay homage, we decided to pick a beat from a favorite duo of ours & rip to it. The first time we did this was to Camp Lo's classic, Luchini (which if you haven't heard then come to the show). Here's the next joint we're gonna rock to, but you will have to come to the show to hear exactly what we're gonna do with it.

It's On Us
What up world! We know it's been a minute, but we back like we left somethin'!
In case you haven't got the word, or you haven't peeped the Google Calendar to the right of your screen, we do have a show coming up. It's on 11/26 at Time Out in Concord. All the details should be in the Calendar Event or the Facebook Event.
Anyway, the show we're doing is actually a celebration of our homey, Schol@r's birthday. For those who don't know Schol@r is a producer/rapper we've known for a while & have worked with on a few occasions in the past. That being said, we figured we drop another joint from a while back. This one actually being produced by the man Schol@r.
Some of you may recognize this as the joint we've opened some of our earlier shows with. The joint's called, "It's On Us" & this particular version was produced by Schol@r.

Check The Rhythm
What up world!
As we continue working on some new stuff, which is coming out beautifully if we do say so ourselves, we thought we'd hit you with something else from a while back.
This is "Check The Rhythm", the second song that we did together. A little back story, the first beat that our boy, A. Temp, gave us for this track was WAY different. A lot more synths & a totally different feel for the song. He then surprised us with this remix. Enjoy! & let us know what you think.
Side Note: We've used the 2nd verse as a part of the "That One Shit", acapella part of our live shows.

BlackOut (Download or Stream)
What up world!?
Your favorite rapper's favorite rappers (favorite rappers) are taking some time to work on some new shit. Our two main projects on deck are the completion of our EP, which'll be coming out sooner than later & we're also beginning work on our debut album, which'll be coming out later than sooner.
As we've been working on these new songs, we thought it'd be good to take a look at some of our earlier stuff.
Here's the first track that Special Optics ever did. A track entitled, "BlackOut", produced by our boy, A. Temp of 3 AM.
As far as backstory, we had just met A. Temp & when we went to his house, this was one of the beats he played us. Now, us being the Superbad fans that we are instantly recognized the sample from the song they play during the opening credits. So, we took the beat home & wrote two verses & A. Temp wrote a verse as well. On our way to record it, TnT decided to add another verse but didn't finish it all the way so when it came time to lay it, TnT freestyles the last few bars & manages to come up with one of the most ignorant quips about oral sex that wasn't said by Too Short (Blow Job Betty, look it up).
Anyway, TnT opens the song, JCaliber follows & A. Temp closes it out & provides the hook & the heat.
Enjoy.
